Sarah and Darnell decided to cuddle in bed for a while. They hadn’t had much time with each other. Darnell looked at Sarah and smiled.

“I love you so much”, he said as she placed a kiss onto the side of his head.

“I love you too, baby. So much. You know, I’ve been thinking. We’ve been married for quite a while now. I think we should start thinking about kids. My parents aren’t going to live forever.”

She chuckles some.

“You’re right. We need to start right away.”

So Sarah and Darnell began kissing and making out. Moments later,
they came out from under the sheets. They had just tried for a baby.
They hoped that they were successful.

A few days later, Sarah began feeling nauseous. She was wondering if it could’ve been something she ate.

“Hmm, must be food poisoning. It’ll go away in a few days.”

After waking up, Sarah felt the urge to go to the bathroom and vomit.
She knelt on the floor and leaned over the toilet and let it go.
She didn’t want to cause too much concern for Darnell.
He looked like he would be the one to be over-dramatic about this kind of thing.
Sarah stood up and washed up, then went downstairs and began cooking breakfast.

As Darnell was finishing his breakfast, he walked over to put his dish in the dishwasher.
It began leaking and smoke began to come out of it.

“Damn it! The dishwasher’s broken! I’ll fix it.”

Darnell got down on the floor and began reparing the dishwasher.
As soon as it was finished, he replaced the cover and stood up,
mopping up the water that leaked onto the floor.

“Well, while you’re doing that, I’m going to the bookstore to pick up some books. I’ll be back.”

With that, Sarah got into the SUV and drove to the bookstore.
She arrived back moments later and placed the books in the bookcase.

As Sarah was watching TV with Darnell, she felt something happening in her lower abdomen.
She stood up and heard the joyus music that she had been wanting to hear.
She had become pregnant! Sarah was so happy.
She couldn’t wait to tell her parents..and Darnell.

“Baby, I’ve got something to tell you.”

“What is it, Sarah?”

“I don’t know how you’ll react to this but..I’m pregnant!”

“What?! Oh, my God! Baby, that’s amazing! I’m so happy!”

“Really?”

“Of course! That’s what we wanted anyway, right?”

“Right. Oh mom and dad is going to be so happy!”

“Sarah, can you come here for a second. I need to talk to you about something.”

“Sure. What is it?”, she asks as she sits down.

“Um, I’ve been thinking about getting a job so that I can support us and the baby.”

“That’s great! I’m so proud of you. What kind of job are you thinking about?”

“Well…I sort of want to join the military.”

“What? The military? But baby, that means that you’ll be gone for quite a while.”

“I know but I’m not going to join it now. I’m going to wait until the baby’s born. Then join it.”

“Oh, well I guess that works. I can take care of the baby. It’s no problem.”

She smiles.

“Mom! Hi! It’s so good to see you!”

“Hi sweetie! How are you?”

“I’m doing good. How about you?”

“Eh, getting older by the second.”

She laughs.

“Well, I’ve got some good news to tell you.”

“What’s that sweetie?”

“How would you feel about becoming a grandma?”

“What? Are you saying that..you’re pregnant?”

“Yes! I’m pregnant, mom!”

“Oh, baby! That is so wonderful! I’m so happy for you two!”

“Thanks, mom.”

They give each other hugs and embrace in the magical moment.

As Sarah was sitting at the table, working on her laptop,
she felt a sharp pain come into her stomach. She stood up and knew that it was time.
She grasped her stomach and screamed out in pain.

“Darnell! It’s time! We need to go to the hospital!”

They arrived at the hospital as soon as they could.
Darnell held her hand as they walked in and got into a room.
Moments later, the sound of cries could be heard as a baby had been born.

“It’s a boy!”, announced the doctor.

“A boy! We have a son!”, Darnell exclaimed.

“What shall we name him?”

“How about Andrew?”

“Andrew Shockley. Sounds wonderful.”

They both smiled as they looked down at their new bundle of joy.

When they got home, Sarah placed Andrew into his crib where he fell fast asleep.
The couple looked down at him and smiled. He looked so peaceful when he slept.
